Mahindra Group – Abhishek Suresh – 2025

Abhishek Suresh supported Mahindra Group’s sustainability team on GHG accounting, water stewardship, and strategic climate communication.

Mahindra Group enlisted Abhishek to assist their corporate sustainability team in supporting group-level climate strategy and sustainability thought leadership. His goals included validating data for GHG accounting, developing a whitepaper on water stewardship, and creating CXO-level communication on ESG and climate topics. He also aimed to showcase engineering-driven initiatives from Mahindra Holidays through business-aligned case studies.

Abhishek worked closely with Mahindra Group’s sustainability team to contribute to strategy, reporting, and communication efforts. He built a knowledge product on water stewardship, identifying scalable opportunity areas for long-term water positivity. He also produced briefing notes on evolving ESG regulations such as SBTi 2.0 and green hydrogen certification, supporting internal awareness and positioning. By attending knowledge-sharing sessions on energy markets and built environment decarbonisation hosted by organisations like S&P Global and Xynteo, he supplemented the internal knowledge repository on sectoral developments in the energy and construction sectors and potential implications for Mahindra’s core automotive business and a related subsidiary, Mahindra Lifespaces. Finally, he developed case studies in collaboration with Mahindra Holidays to convert engineering-led environmental initiatives, such as installing chemical-free STPs, supplementing RE infrastructure with BESS, fitting dual-purpose AC units, and grey-water recycling, into business-focused sustainability narratives with measurable returns.

Abhishek’s work contributed to stronger data integrity for Mahindra’s sustainability reporting and improved strategic communication across internal stakeholders. His outputs supported CXO engagement on ESG regulation and key topics such as water positivity. The case studies and regulatory briefings helped translate operational efforts into aligned business narratives. His efforts also provided inputs that helped the Group CSO stay informed on emerging sectoral developments and policy shifts during the fellowship period.
