Nice-Pak – Rebecca Katz – 2025

Rebecca Katz improved Scope 3 GHG Accounting infrastructure and accuracy for Nice-Pak through detailed data analysis and extensive stakeholder engagement.

Nice-Pak, a global leader in wet wipe manufacturing, is committed to sustainable sourcing and responsible supply chain practices. Nice-Pak recently worked with Rebecca Katz, EDF Climate Corps Fellow, to focus on enhancing its Scope 3 accounting, a cornerstone of the company’s sustainability strategy. Through detailed analysis and rigorous stakeholder engagement across functional teams, she advanced Nice-Pak’s ability to report emissions more accurately and transparently, reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices.

Rebecca drew on her consulting background in large organizational change and data systems to engage stakeholders and identify opportunities for stronger Scope 3 reporting. She began by mapping 25+ key stakeholders across Nice-Pak’s supply chain, holding deep-dive discussions to understand current practices. For high-impact categories, such as purchased goods and downstream distribution, she led regular check-ins and created roadmaps outlining data requirements and next steps. While calculating Scope 3 for the United States and Europe, she conducted a meticulous line-by-line review of large datasets, clarifying underlying logic and gaps. This work resulted in a detailed guidance document and collaboration with the Business Technology team on long-term solutions to streamline data collection and improve accuracy.

Through Rebecca’s detailed analysis, Nice-Pak can now approach Scope 3 reporting with greater accuracy and confidence’a critical metric for its largest customers. Her clear documentation and stakeholder engagement created the foundation for a year-round, repeatable process rather than a one-off exercise. By embedding this structure across the organization, her work enables the Sustainability Team to shift focus from manual calculations to advancing strategic initiatives and driving long-term emissions reductions.
