Shenghong Petrochemical – Siqi Zhang – 2025

Siqi Zhang, taking into account the enterprise’s production characteristics, energy structure, and emission reduction needs, has formulated a green and low-carbon technology list and a personalized transformation plan for the enterprise. By clarifying phased emission reduction targets, matching suitable technical pathways, and optimizing the pace of resource investment, this plan will effectively help the enterprise achieve a smooth transition in the process of advancing the dual-carbon goals, and provide clear and feasible action guidance for it to gradually build a zero-carbon plant and fully complete its green transformation.

To respond to the “dual-carbon” policy, Jiangsu Shenghong Petrochemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. has set its core objective as developing its subsidiary, Sierbang Petrochemical Co., Ltd., into a “zero-carbon plant”. Based on this strategic positioning, the main work involves researching domestic and international green and low-carbon technologies. By taking into account the production characteristics and process requirements of the petrochemical industry, Jiangsu analyzed the coupling adaptability between technologies and the industry, and ultimately provided technical pathway references for the clean transformation of Sierbang Petrochemical.

After clarifying Shenghong Petrochemical’s objectives, she reviewed hundreds of documents, took stock of green and low-carbon technologies for it from five aspects (research teams, process principles, raw material and product schemes, technical routes, and technology maturity) and formulated a specific transformation plan for Sierbang Petrochemical. Sierbang Petrochemical has a geographical advantage in accessing electricity and heat resources from nearby nuclear power plants. It can take the lead in advancing projects such as the retrofitting of coal-fired steam systems and the replacement of coal-fired power generation, and also deploy photovoltaic projects in parking lots to build a green corporate image. For the deployment of CCUS technology and the restructuring of the energy system, she sorted out the latest technological developments and formulated a technology roadmap, helping the company respond quickly when there are technological breakthroughs, improved economic benefits, or favorable policies, and seize the first-mover advantage in industrial transformation.

Through studying a large number of documents, she developed a list of various green and low-carbon technologies, which has also laid the foundation for Sierbang Petrochemical to build a “zero-carbon plant”. By systematically analyzing Sierbang Petrochemical’s carbon accounting reports, she accurately identified the main carbon emission sources throughout the company’s production process. Integrating key factors such as technology maturity, implementation cost, and emission reduction benefits, she formulated a tailored, phased transformation plan for the company. In addition, she systematically sorted out the certification procedures of green supply chain certification bodies, which has opened up a critical pathway for Sierbang Petrochemical to obtain green financing after its transformation.
