American Seafoods – Gabriel Ingman – 2024

Summary

Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Office, Gabriel Ingman created a comprehensive guide for American Seafoods to meet a major sustainability commitment to a key customer by modeling emissions reduction pathways and exploring concrete projects for the company to undertake to reduce its carbon footprint.

Goals

1. Determine the company’s readiness to meet this large sustainability commitment.

2. Research and model emissions reduction pathways for a near-term target, achievable in the next 5-10 years.

3. Research and compile communications to leadership, detailing how to meet the commitment with a specific focus on the technical and logistical considerations of sourcing renewable diesel.

Solutions

1. Created a comprehensive guide that covers all steps necessary for the company to commit to this sustainability request.

2. Wrote two memorandums to leadership: one on the importance and feasibility of the sustainability commitment, and one on renewable diesel, covering its geographic availability, price, policy support, and how to incorporate it into American Seafoods’ refueling operation.

3. Delivered a presentation on emissions reduction projects to company leadership, covering all financial, operational, and sustainability considerations.

Potential Impact

Gabriel’s work this summer ensures that American Seafoods is well prepared to meet this sustainability request and others like it in the future, while leading its industry in decarbonization efforts.
