In response to Roche’s Sustainable Energy Future Goal 2050, Wenbi Liao updated the sustainable energy roadmap and participated in a series of low-carbon activities.

Goals

Roche has set the Global Sustainability Goal 2020-2050, with the long-term goal of achieving Zero Scope 1&2 GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions by 2050, phased goals are set for 2025 and 2029. In response to Roche’s Sustainable Energy Future Goal 2050, Roche Pharma China invited Wenbi Liao to support some projects.

Solutions

Wenbi Liao approached the challenge by the following steps:

1. Updating the Sustainable Energy Roadmap: Outlining energy and greenhouse gas baselines, tracking energy-saving projects, and forecasting the reduction potential of future GHG emissions.
2. Establishing an energy conversion calculator: Using Google sheet for parameter standardization and calculation, establishing a database to visualize energy data.
3. Participating in the green factory application: Participating in green manufacturing level assessment, completing green factory application PPT, and participating in the Pu dong New Area green low-carbon industry development training.
4. Establishing a carbon management regime: Defining and standardizing the roles and responsibilities of relevant key departments, and outlining the procedures for carbon emission projects.

Potential Impact

Wenbi Liao played an important role in updating Roche Pharma China’s sustainable energy roadmap, giving the company a clear plan to achieve its environmental goals. The energy conversion calculator is a handy tool that makes it easier to measure carbon footprints accurately. Also, the carbon management regime SOP helps Roche comply with regulations and manage risks better. These efforts are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to Roche’s global sustainability goals.
