Colgate-Palmolive – Juehan (Hanna) Ye – 2022
Goals
As part of Colgate-Palmolive’s Sustainability & Social Impact Strategy to accelerate action on climate change and achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2040, the Logistics team at Colgate tasked Hanna to help develop its first ever Sustainability Roadmap, a tool to guide the company on the main tactics and strategy to decarbonize Colgate-Palmolive’s transportation and distribution.
Solutions
Hanna approached her work integrating the following three steps:
- Conduct desktop research on industry reports and peer actions to determine key action areas
- Interview internal stakeholders and learn about their current work. Gain feedback on research findings, identify challenges and opportunities each team faces, and socialize new ideas for better implementation
- Assess financial and technological readiness for proposed measures and rank key actions by action priority
Potential Impact
Hanna’s work provided detailed actions for the logistics department at Colgate to start their journey to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, and for other departments to support this ambitious process. Through the many conversations that happened this summer, internal alignment on net-zero strategy was also increased, increasing the synergy to achieve this goal.
