Texas Southern University – Nekya Jenise Young – 2014

Jenise Young, previously an EDF Climate Corps 2013 fellow, returned this summer to Texas Southern University with the goal of helping the University develop a framework to draft a future climate action plan. Young researched current campus transportation options, demand response programs, waste reduction and ways to expand its existing recycling programs. Under the supervision of Dr. Glenn S. Johnson, Associate Dean of the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs, Young identified campus and community stakeholders to assist with the University’s effort to begin analyzing its carbon footprint.

It is the goal of Texas Southern University to use Young’s deliverables to begin the process of signing the American College & University President’s Climate Commitment.
