Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment – Yixuan Liu – 2025
Summary
Yixuan Liu analyzed water consumption and optimized water resource management at AMEC.
Goals
As a Master Candidate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Class of 2026), Liu was engaged to fulfill three core tasks: analyzing the LinGang site’s current water usage, exploring water conservation potentials, and enhancing employees’ water conservation awareness’all critical for AMEC to achieve its water conservation targets and accumulate materials for its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report.
Solutions
Yixuan Liu delivered tangible results through three key projects. First, using AMEC’s existing water network maps and meter data, she developed a Site Water Resource Flow Chart and a Water Consumption Sankey Diagram, laying a foundation for identifying core water-consuming links. Second, she compiled multiple industry cases, clarified definitions and calculation methods for indicators like water consumption per unit output value and reuse rate, proposed several conservation directions, and then focused on 5 specific measures. She also completed the site’s water metering network map, identifying 10 locations for additional meters. Third, she created a 2-minute publicity video to enhance employees’ water conservation awareness.
Potential Impact
This fellowship helps AMEC secure key water-saving tools: the Sankey Diagram and water resource Flow Chart support data-driven water management, while 10 new water meters boost real-time usage tracking accuracy. Achieving water and energy savings directly advances its 2035 carbon neutrality goal, and the custom water conservation video raises employee awareness and engagement in saving efforts. These outcomes also offer critical ESG report materials, setting a valuable benchmark for semiconductor water management.
