Amazon.com, Inc. – Dhruvil Jakasaniya – 2024

Summary

Amazon enlisted Dhruvil Jahasaniya to undertake The Global Waste and Recycling Vendor Mapping Project, which aims to enhance the visibility of waste and recycling management vendors across Amazon sites globally. By mapping vendor services and creating a comprehensive database, the project seeks to provide city and site-level insights on available waste services by vendors across Amazon sites.

Goals

A comprehensive map of global waste and recycling vendors, including a Waste Vendor Matrix, will be delivered. This initiative aims to improve accessibility of vendor information for various recycling and waste management solutions to support teams in executing their waste program plans.

Solutions

Data was collected from internal systems and procurement teams, and validated through Python scripting and geographical mapping. A user-friendly web application using AppSheet was developed to convert static data into a dynamic tool, facilitating real-time updates and offering this single source for companywide waste vendors.

Potential Impact

The project increased vendor visibility, enabling more informed waste management decisions and potentially reducing costs and environmental impact. The creation of a centralized library resource streamlines decision-making and improves vendor relationships. The web application democratizes access to vendor mapping data, empowering teams with real-time information.
