Goals
Prateek Prasad explored energy efficiency opportunities at BNA, a legal, regulatory and business information publisher owned by Bloomberg LP.
Solutions
Prasad’s recommendations included setting desktop computers to “sleep” during non-operating hours, reducing the number of existing ceiling light fixtures, replacing workstation task lights with LEDs and reducing their occupancy sensor timeout from 20 to 5 minutes, and co-locating employees with similar work schedules on the same floors, to enable reduced overall HVAC operating hours.
Potential Impact
Prasad identified efficiency projects that could save up to 1.4 million kilowatt hours, 1,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and 16 percent of net electricity costs annually.
