Chicago Public Schools – Charlotte Peyraud – 2013

Goals

Charlotte Peyraud was matched with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to expand existing energy efficiency programs and identify new opportunities to reduce energy use and save taxpayer dollars.

Solutions

Peyraud worked to improve the communications strategy of existing programs, including the district’s Energy Shared Savings program, by developing new literature, streamlining the application process and strengthening external partnerships to further promote school participation. Peyraud also supported the rollout of the district’s use of Energy Star Portfolio Manager as its benchmarking tool.

In addition, Peyraud examined the potential savings from new initiatives including the development of an ongoing retro-commissioning program, dedicated participation in a local direct-install incentive program, a continuing education program for facility managers and the development of a green revolving fund.

Potential Impact

Together these projects could save CPS over $1 million annually and avoid the release of over 6,000 metric tons of carbon emissions each year.
