Colgate-Palmolive – Pallavi Herekar Deepak – 2014

Goals

Pallavi Herekar was hired by Colgate-Palmolive to help them identify energy, carbon and cost savings opportunities associated with recycling of Waste-Heat. Herekar’s engineering background combined with her MBA business skills helped in translating the technical work into meaningful business terms.

Solutions

Herekar developed a Waste-Heat Recycler toolkit for use by Colgate-Palmolive’s global supply chain manufacturing sites. As part of the assignment, Herekar participated on a multi-functional team at Colgate’s Cambridge, Ohio manufacturing plant in a three-day Energy Treasure Hunt workshop. This event helped inform the design of the waste-heat toolkit and facilitated the inclusion of real-world examples.

Potential Impact

The toolkit was formally presented to Colgate’s senior supply chain management team and will soon be rolled out globally, with a potential business opportunity to reduce energy consumption, costs and carbon emissions by up to 10 percent in support of the company’s environmental sustainability strategy and savings goals.
