College of Menominee Nation – Sarah Jeglum – 2012

Goals

The College of Menominee Nation (CMN) had brought Sarah Jeglum onboard to help pursue its long-standing commitment to sustainability.

Solutions

After performing an energy audit on CMN facilities, Jeglum recommended energy efficiency projects such as lighting retrofits in the Cultural Learning Center and parking lot, delamping the administration building and installing occupancy sensors and vending machine misers across campus.

Jeglum also recommended a “green team” and a green revolving fund to manage and help finance projects, respectively. She consulted faculty to determine how students could be included in green decision-making and project implementation.

Potential Impact

As a whole, Jeglum’s recommendations could save CMN over $14,000 (more than $50,000 over the life of the investments), over 60 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and nearly 74,000 kilowatt hours of electricity every year.
