Edelman Financial Engines LLC – Abir Mymuny – 2025

Abir Mymuny supported Edelman Financial Engines in addressing climate-related challenges by thoroughly analyzing emissions across scopes, assessing physical climate risks, and recommending strategies for climate risk disclosure, regulatory preparedness, and enhanced risk management practices to ensure long-term sustainability.

Abir Mymuny joined Edelman Financial Engines as part of the Climate Corps fellowship to address the growing need for climate risk management in the financial sector. The project aimed to assess the company’s Scope 1-3 emissions, evaluate climate-related risks affecting regional office facilities, and track upcoming legislation impacting the company. The goal was to help EFE develop effective strategies for regulatory preparedness, climate risk disclosure, and to enhance their overall sustainability practices.

To address the climate challenges, Abir Mymuny implemented a three-phase approach. First, comprehensive data was gathered on EFE’s Scope 1-3 emissions, leveraging direct data collection from facility managers and analyzing trends over the past three years. Next, a detailed physical risk assessment was conducted to identify vulnerable regional office locations and evaluate potential climate risks. Finally, Abir provided strategic recommendations for aligning EFE’s operations with upcoming climate regulations, proposing a climate risk disclosure framework and suggesting improvements in emission reduction efforts and regulatory preparedness.

Abir Mymuny’s work had a significant impact on Edelman Financial Engines by providing a clear emissions inventory and identifying key drivers for Scope 3 emissions. The physical risk assessment highlighted climate vulnerabilities in key regional offices, guiding informed decisions for lease considerations. The strategic recommendations for climate risk disclosure and regulatory preparedness will help EFE align with evolving climate regulations, improve their sustainability practices, and strengthen their position in managing climate risks effectively, paving the way for long-term resilience and compliance.
