Ingersoll Rand – Chad Reed – 2012

Chad Reed took a holistic approach to identifying energy efficiency opportunities at Ingersoll Rand. He scoped, modeled and recommended nearly 30 efficiency projects at two Ingersoll facilities – building envelope repairs, lighting retrofits, computer power management optimization, installing vending misers and manual fan timers, automating building system integrations, submetering and more.

Together, these projects could save Ingersoll Rand nearly $250,000 in annual energy costs and 1,400 metric tons of annual carbon dioxide emissions.

Additionally, Reed wrote and recommended a new strategy for employee sustainability accreditation standards for Ingersoll’s 52,000 employees. He also analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) for Ingersoll business lines presented by the Department of Energy’s new Commercial Building Energy Asset Rating Tool. Finally, he crafted two case studies of energy conservation initiatives undertaken by volunteer “green teams” at Ingersoll; these initiatives aim to spread best practices in sustainability in the company and broad business community.
