ITC Ltd – Honey Gairola – 2022

Goals

ITC Limited aimed to understand the disclosure requirements under TCFD Reporting and the methods and tools used for scenario analysis and risk identification. Climate Corps fellow Honey Gairola was appointed to conduct a secondary and primary research to gain insights for the organization.

Solutions

The approach followed included:

• Understanding the reporting requirements by TCFD
• Enlisting organizations across 5 ITC relevant industries, reviewing their TCFD reports and noting insights under every category and approaches from the same
• In a bid to understand the industry approach better, an interview was also conducted with a manager from a peer organization to understand their methodology towards TCFD reporting

Potential Impact

Risks, opportunities and mitigation strategies as identified by peers across industries were noted for the company, along with tools and methods adopted for scenario analysis and risk assessment. Some of the approaches taken by peers to mitigate risks such as internal carbon pricing policy were also identified and shared as a likely step towards risk mitigation.
