JLL – Segun Osibodu – 2025
Summary
Segun Osibodu developed a data-driven framework to guide cost-effective decarbonization for clients in the Consumer Goods and Financial Services sectors.
Goals
With rising stakeholder pressure to act on climate, corporate leaders face two key challenges: the “Where to Start'” problem and the “ROI Concern.” To help solve this, global real estate services firm JLL enlisted EDF Climate Corps Fellow, Segun Osibodu, to move beyond generic advice and develop a specific, data-backed roadmap on where to win in decarbonization for the Consumer Goods and Financial Services industries.
Solutions
Segun approached this challenge using a structured, four-part analytical process:
Performance Benchmarking: First, Segun aggregated emissions data for 19 companies, calculating performance changes to identify key trends and leaders across all GHG scopes.
Materiality Assessment: Next, he conducted a quantitative analysis to identify and prioritize the most significant Scope 3 emissions sources for each sector based on reporting consistency and emissions magnitude.
Lever Identification: Segun then investigated the public disclosures of top performing companies, as well as publicly available levers to build a library of over 25 distinct, peer-validated decarbonization strategies.
Cost Synthesis: Finally, he synthesized and inflation-adjusted cost-per-ton data for these levers from established industry reports to create a clear, tiered financial framework for prioritizing action.
Potential Impact
Segun Osibodu enhanced JLL’s sustainability advisory services by developing a powerful, evidence-based tool for its client-facing teams. By translating complex peer data and abatement costs into a clear, tiered financial framework, he provided a data-validated roadmap to help clients prioritize investments with the fastest returns. This standardized methodology strengthens JLL’s leadership in data-driven sustainability consulting, building a stronger business case for immediate and long-term climate action with its clients.
