Schneider Electric – Wenxin Zhang – 2025
Summary
Wenxin Zhang, a PhD candidate from Tianjin University, joined Schneider Electric’s Beijing Campus through the Climate Corps fellowship to support sustainability and EHS management. Her project focused on advancing the factory’s carbon neutrality goals by enhancing energy efficiency and strengthening workplace safety, aligning with Schneider Electric’s corporate sustainability commitments.
Goals
To achieve these goals, Wenxin contributed to multiple initiatives. She led the design of the Energy Hub visualization dashboard, integrating data from photovoltaic generation, energy efficiency upgrades, and green electricity procurement to clearly present decarbonization pathways. The platform highlighted Scope 1&3 emission reductions and was showcased on the factory’s large screen system for internal and external stakeholders. On the safety side, she analyzed historical incident data, created training and awareness materials, and participated in optimizing hazardous waste management to improve compliance. She also supported applications for government green subsidies and helped Schneider Electric communicate its zero-carbon roadmap more effectively.
Solutions
The Energy Hub project is expected to deliver at least 10% energy savings while enabling renewable energy to cover over 90% of campus demand. By combining data integration with visual communication, the project enhances Schneider Electric’s competitiveness and supports its “Lighthouse Factory” application. Her contributions also improved workplace safety culture and environmental compliance, positioning the Beijing Campus as a demonstration site for sustainable, low-carbon manufacturing.
