Stanley Black & Decker – Jingyu Mao – 2023

Goals

At present, Stanley Black & Decker’s (SBD) new factory is at the stage of trial operation. Based on its own energy-saving and emissions reduction needs as well as carbon neutrality goals, SBD hoped to introduce rooftop photovoltaic projects, comprehensively grasp the energy consumption situation of the factory, and know the theoretical annual carbon emissions of the factory.

Solutions

Jingyu conducted annual and monthly power generation simulations on two rooftop photovoltaic schemes using a PV system software. In response to the current status of the energy metering system within the new factory, Jingyu proposed paths and structural suggestions for the intelligent use of energy systems. Based on this, the annual theoretical carbon emissions of the factory can be calculated using theoretical energy consumption data and proposed carbon reduction measures.

Potential Impact

The simulation of photovoltaic schemes will assist Stanley Black & Decker in visualizing its advantages and disadvantages, thereby supporting improved decision-making. Once the construction plan for an intelligent energy consumption system is implemented, the factory will have access to specific data that identifies energy-saving and conservation opportunities. The carbon emissions data will also enable enterprises and customers to better understand the carbon emissions of factories.
