Warburg Pincus – Jan Schwarting – 2014

Goals

Jan Schwarting worked in the New York office of Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm focused on growth investing, as part of the Firm’s continuing effort to enhance its Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) program.

Solutions

Schwarting provided support to three portfolio companies in analyzing potential projects and/or investments related to sustainability. Schwarting also developed performance tracking and reporting frameworks that could allow the portfolio companies to monitor sustainability indicators and assist with potential investment decisions. Throughout his fellowship, Schwarting identified and evaluated energy efficiency opportunities and helped to quantify both the related cost savings and associated environmental impact.

Potential Impact

Given the breadth of Warburg Pincus’ portfolio, Schwarting focused on developing tools that could serve as resources for other portfolio companies.
