Healthy soils and water drive sustainable food

In addition to optimizing nutrient management, maximizing soil and water health can reduce the environmental impacts of agriculture and generate benefits for communities, customers and businesses themselves.

EDF is working with major retailers and food companies to support farmers and agricultural service providers in enhancing soil health while maximizing food production. Through practices like cover crops, conservation tillage, and riparian and/or forested buffers, farmers can keep nutrients in the field and out of local waterways.
